President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, conducted an in-water review of the country’s naval fleet in the Saronic Gulf as part of Naval Week. The event highlighted Greece’s commitment to maritime security and showcased the operational readiness and national pride embodied by the Hellenic Navy.
Addressing the occasion, President Tasoulas emphasized the deep sense of national pride and emotion evoked by the review, stating that it demonstrated the high morale, combat capability, dedication, and patriotic spirit of the naval personnel.
‘It was a display of the full dynamic capabilities of our Hellenic Navy,’ said Tasoulas. ‘It was a demonstration of the security and deterrent power of our fleet, but also of the courage, operational readiness, and national enthusiasm of its crews. Through this review, the Navy proves itself to be a national asset, living up to its long history and evolving into the modern force it is today.’
Tasoulas boarded the frigate ‘Spetsai,’ where he was welcomed by key military and political figures, including Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias, MP Sofia Voultepsi, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic Navy Admiral Dimitrios-Konstantinos Kataras, and other senior officials.
The President reiterated that the modern ships of the Hellenic Navy serve the nation by protecting its sovereignty and maritime borders against any threat. He praised the Navy for being a pillar of stability and security in a time marked by geopolitical uncertainty and tensions.
Tasoulas also communicated via radio with the crews of the warships, expressing his satisfaction with the constant readiness of the Hellenic Navy. He congratulated officers, petty officers, and enlisted personnel—men and women alike—for their exemplary performance during the inspection and for embodying the proud spirit of the Greek nation.
He concluded by thanking the entire Hellenic Navy for ensuring the safety and peace of mind that allow Greek citizens to pursue their daily lives without concern. The naval review served as a powerful reminder of Greece’s strategic importance and the strength of its defense forces in a region facing ongoing challenges.
