Only the proposal by New Democracy (ND) to form the Special Preparatory Committee — which refers former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Karamanlis for potential misconduct — passed, achieving the required majority with 154 votes in favor against 13 against and 1 abstention during a secret ballot. The parliamentary groups of SYRIZA, KKE, and New Left abstained from voting, while independent MPs Antonis Samaras and Pavlos Sarakis were absent. Conversely, two other proposals by PASOK and one jointly submitted by Greek Solution, Niki, Liberty Path, and six independent MPs were rejected. These proposals also targeted Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and 12 former ministers and deputy ministers from ND and the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition governments. According to results, the proposal against PM Mitsotakis was rejected with 159 votes, while the ND’s proposal against Karamanlis garnered 154 positive votes, aligning with their party’s strength. Independent MPs D. Kyrazidis and Kh. Katsivaradas reportedly supported the ND proposal, suggesting internal dissent within ND. In total, the session lasted approximately 18 hours, concluding after 3 AM on Thursday.
