PPC Group: Significant performance records sustainable development report

Showing its constant commitment to create long-term value, the Group presented the annual Sustainable Development Report for 2023, in accordance with the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI Standards) and the ESG Information Disclosure Guide of the Athens Stock Exchange. For the fourth year PPC openly records its performance at group level and for the first time at international level after the completion of the acquisition of Enel’s activities in Romania, informing all interested parties of the further integration of sustainable development principles and practices into the group’s business model. PPC Group’s performance in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) for 2023 stands out: Reduction 34% of direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) Increase 32% of Renewable Energy (RES) contribution to energy mix (4.6 GW) in Greece and Romania Reduction 55% of total waste generated Increase 61% in RES investments and distribution networks 47% women in liability positions An upgrade of 4 tiers (B-) by the international organisation CDP It is worth mentioning that the exhibition maintained the high percentage of indicators secured by a third independent controller (limited insurance), with the collective effort and effective cooperation of a large network of PPC Group executives. In addition, in order to further enhance transparency, the international organisation GRI examined the GRI content table and verified that the information is presented in accordance with the requirements of the standard and is clearly linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Following the end of the process, PPC Group received two important recognitions: Content Index – Essentials Service and SDGs Add-on, confirming the clear and understandable presentation of the information to interested parties. In a sustainable development orbit: Emission reduction and RES aid PPC Group, focusing on Sustainable Development and environmental responsibility, accelerates its energy transformation with concrete measures and investments. In relation to 2022, it recorded a 34% reduction in direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1), while strengthening by 32% the contribution of RES to its energy mix in Greece and Romania, having a installed power of 4.6 GW at the end of 2023. 30% of PPC’s total production now comes from RES, while investments in RES and distribution networks increased 61%. With 2,400 electric vehicle charging points in Greece and Romania, which are constantly increasing and covering the consumption of its buildings with green energy through GreenPass, PPC Group strengthens its contribution to a sustainable future. The 12% reduction in water consumption and 55% in waste production underline the group’s commitment to protect natural resources and reduce its environmental footprint. Investment in society and people for a sustainable future PPC Group, an integral part of the country’s social and economic fabric, aims to support society and promote a modern, fair working environment, investing in initiatives that empower both local communities and its human resources. In 2023 he allocated 11.4m euros in donations to support local communities, while strengthening his human resources with new recruitments. Women’s participation in the middle staff is 47%, stressing the group’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for work. At the same time, with more than 6m euros invested in staff training and 86% of employees covered by collective labour agreements, PPC Group highlights its commitment to a working environment that promotes professional development. It is worth noting that for the second consecutive year, PPC Renewables was awarded as a Great Place to Work. In addition, PPC Group’s customer-centric culture emerges in a distinct section of the Sustainable Development Report, including targeted satisfaction indicators, such as the Net Promotion Score index, which improved by 11 points compared to 2022, presenting the increased trust of its customers. Corporate Governance and Transparency The implementation and observance of best corporate governance practices, as described in the report, is a key commitment and priority of PPC Group Management with the aim of creating a strong system of accountability and transparency and effective response to environmental and socio-economic challenges, for the benefit of all stakeholders.
