The Greek Ministry of Development released a comprehensive Q&A guide today (17 June 2026) — just hours after the official launch of PosoKanei, its new digital price comparison platform. Developed jointly with the Ministry of Digital Governance, the tool is now live at posokanei.gov.gr and gives consumers real-time access to prices for nearly 9,000 consumer product codes — enabling side-by-side comparisons across major supermarket chains.
What Is PosoKanei?
PosoKanei is a government-run online platform designed to empower consumers by providing transparent, up-to-date pricing data. It allows users to compare prices across retailers, track historical price trends, and create personalized shopping lists.
How to Access the Platform
Users can visit posokanei.gov.gr via desktop or laptop. Dedicated mobile apps are also available for both Android and iOS devices, offering seamless access while on the go.
Product Coverage and Organization
The initial version of the platform includes approximately 10,000 product SKUs. The database is continuously updated and expanded to include new items and categories. Products are grouped into six main categories — each further divided into subcategories — based on classification standards provided by Circana, a global retail analytics firm.
Which Supermarkets Are Included?
Price data is currently sourced from ten major supermarket chains: Galaxy, Sklavenitis, Chalkiadakis, SYNKA, Masoutis, My Market, AB Vasilopoulos, Kritikos, Market in, and Lidl.
How Are Prices Collected?
Data collection happens through two complementary methods:
- Direct data sharing: Galaxy, SYNKA, Masoutis, AB Vasilopoulos, Market in, and Lidl provide pricing information directly to the platform.
- Automated web scraping: For Sklavenitis, Chalkiadakis, My Market, and Kritikos, prices are collected automatically from their e-commerce sites using product SKUs.
All prices are refreshed daily.
Tracking Price History
Yes — users can view how the price of a specific product has evolved over time using the built-in price history feature.
Finding Products
Products can be searched either by name or by barcode. The mobile app supports barcode scanning: users can scan a product’s barcode and instantly see current pricing and availability across participating retailers.
What You See When Selecting a Product
Upon selecting a product, users see which supermarkets stock it — along with their respective prices — allowing for immediate, informed comparisons.
