After several days of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Union of the Merchant Navy (PENEN) being on strike, paralyzing the ports of Patras and Igoumenitsa, it appears that an agreement has been reached with shipowners regarding the rights demanded by the workers. The seamen at the ports of Igoumenitsa and Patras have decided to end the strike and allow ships to resume their routes. The General Assembly accepted the agreement between union representatives and shipowners. Both ports are expected to reopen normally, and regular ship schedules will resume, according to information from apohxos.gr. A climate of optimism prevailed during the marathon meeting, which concluded at midnight on Tuesday. The meeting between PENEN management and ATTICA GROUP took place on the ship ‘SUPERFAST III’ in the port of Patras. According to PENEN, the meeting, requested by the seamen’s union, gathered all the strikers led by the Union President, while ATTICA GROUP was represented by Mr. Kyriakos Mageiras, Panagiotis Dikaios, and the President of SEEN, Dionysis Theodoratos. After extensive discussions, a comprehensive proposal addressing the demands and claims of the sector was submitted for the first time, enriched by a new addition.
