Pope Leo IX met with the legendary actor Al Pacino on Monday (16.06.2025) at the Vatican, marking the first official audience between a U.S.-born Pope and a movie star. “We are honored to announce that this morning Pope Leo IX privately received a delegation from the film ‘Maserati: The Brothers,’ including Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino and the film’s producer Andrea Iervolino. The meeting was a profound moment of spiritual and cultural inspiration, focusing on shared values central to both the Catholic Church and the film: family unity, love, harmony, and contributing to the common good,” said Iervolino. He added, “These values emphasized repeatedly by Pope Leo IX resonate deeply with the story of the Maserati brothers—a family whose legacy was built not only on innovation and excellence but also on mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared vision.” Pacino arrived in Rome via private jet from New York on Sunday, according to Italian press reports. In May, it was announced that Pacino joined the cast of ‘Maserati: The Brothers,’ directed by Bobbi Moreseco, portraying entrepreneur Vincenzo Vaccaro, who supported the Maserati family during its early years. Filmed in Italy, the movie narrates the rise of the Maserati family and their pioneering contributions to the automotive industry. Pacino plays Vaccaro, while the official cast—Antony Hopkins, Adi Garcia, Jessica Alba, Michel Moronne, and Salvatore Esposito—did not attend the papal audience.
