Speaking to journalists, the pontiff expressed hope that the new agreement would mark the definitive end of the crisis and pave the way for a lasting peace process.
‘Let Us Hope the War Has Truly Ended’
“Let us hope that the war has truly ended. There is at least this memorandum between Iran and the United States, which appears set to be formally signed on Friday—though several issues remain to be resolved,” the Pope said.
He stressed that negotiation and dialogue remain the only sustainable path to resolving international crises. “We must always follow the path of dialogue and negotiation. We hope we will indeed reach a solution,” he added.
A Call for Nuclear Disarmament and Global Solidarity
The Pope also voiced his wish for the complete elimination of the nuclear weapons threat, emphasizing that the welfare and well-being of peoples must be the highest priority of the international community. “The pursuit of peace must be accompanied by a concrete commitment to justice, development, and solidarity among nations,” he stated—reiterating the Holy See’s longstanding position in favor of peaceful conflict resolution and strengthened cooperation among states.
