Polytechnic: The great and peaceful march in Athens for the 51st anniversary of the uprising

Without tensions, the big Sunday afternoon (17.11.2024) for the 51st anniversary of his uprising in Athens was completed, with authorities proceeding to 150 admissions and 7 arrests. Present on the march for the Polytechnics gave 30,000 protesters, among them, students, students, party members and a simple world, many of them with their families and children hugging. Small children arrived from early noon at the Polytechnic site where they left flowers and paintings for the memory of the dead. A typical example is that of a young girl sitting in the mother’s arms holding a carnation. But also of this child who holds a paper “plakat” with the slogan “Bake, education, freedom”. Students, members of PASP and other protesters opened the bloody Greek flag in front of the Polytechnic and shouted the slogan “brothers live you lead us.” At 15:00 they began their course and headed for the American embassy. There they shouted slogans against the US and Israel and then headed to the Israeli embassy, which they protected cages and powerful police forces to avoid incidents. At the top of the rally was found the bloody flag of the uprising, with student blocks and blocks of other organizations following. The rally was preceded by the liaison of prisoners of exiles 1967–1974 (SFEA), holding a banner with the slogan “Resistance forever in fascism”. While most people had left the Polytechnic site, at the point there was also a large police force while civilians continued to arrive to leave a carnation as a tribute to the dead. Student clubs, bodies, Syriza, PASOK, Freedom’s Port, New Left, MERA25, parties and organizations of the extra-parliamentary Left, labor unions and collectives of the anti-authoritarian area gathered initially at Klathmonos Square and the statue of Kolokotronis and then headed to the American embassy and the Israeli embassy. 113 people’s imports went on after pre-controls made in different areas of the center of Athens before the beginning of the march. The defendants were taken to the General Police Directorate of Attica (GADA) for verification of evidence. Around 17:00 in the afternoon, there was tension between students and supporters of Stephen Kasselakis. The episode occurred when supporters of Stefanos Kasselakis tried to bypass student clubs traditionally ahead of the course for the Polytechnic.
