The newly renovated Health, Rehabilitation, and Recovery Center was visited on Friday afternoon (2.5.25) by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accompanied by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis. “I must tell you that I am particularly moved to visit today the Rehabilitation and Health Center in Keratea. It is indeed, as both the minister and our doctor mentioned, a model rehabilitation structure,” stated Prime Minister Mitsotakis, who was guided by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and physiatrist Kyriaki Stathi through the modern facilities of the Health Center, which include clinics, physical therapy rooms, a Robotic Rehabilitation Center, and a therapeutic pool. He had the opportunity to speak with staff and patients and learn about the services and operations of the center. “I am also slightly moved because every time I visit rehabilitation structures, I remember my mother, Marika Mitsotaki, who fought tirelessly many decades ago so that the public health system, the National Health System, could provide quality rehabilitation services to patients in great need,” he noted. “Here, indeed, is a structure that has nothing to envy from the best private sector facilities. Our goal is to extend operating hours to fully utilize the existing equipment and serve more patients. And to use this as a model to create similar rehabilitation structures elsewhere, such as in Amyntaio, where there is already significant infrastructure available, offering hope and prospects to our fellow citizens who need to reintegrate smoothly into social and economic life,” emphasized the prime minister. He also thanked donors, noting that the facility had significant private contributions through private grants. However, his main thanks went to those working and providing services to people in real need. Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis remarked, “We thank the prime minister for visiting one of the most exemplary units, the most exemplary primary healthcare service and rehabilitation center that the public sector has. A jewel of AEAMY (Anonymous Company of Health Units), which serves thousands of cases annually. The ministry’s plans are to expand its operating hours and staffing to provide these high-quality health services to even more people.” Physiatrist and head of the Robotic Rehabilitation Center, Kyriaki Stathi, said, “We are very grateful for the visit and hope it will mark the beginning of expanding activities because the Health Center here, the Keratea Rehabilitation Center, is a model for community-based rehabilitation, something that is lacking, and we hope to make it even better.” The building and medical equipment of the Health Center were donated by the family of Konstantinos Priftis, valued at 5 million euros.
