The local community and the entire nation were shocked by the double murder case in Messinia, where a 61-year-old man with psychological issues cold-bloodedly killed his parents. Hearing this news, a 67-year-old woman came forward expressing her own fears for her life. Her younger brother, who also suffers from mental health problems, poses a threat to her safety, as she revealed during an interview on Live News (24.06.2025). The woman detailed her fears, stating that she is trapped with no way out. Since 2008, her 62-year-old brother has been diagnosed with psychosis. Despite her efforts to help him, repeated court orders for involuntary hospitalization have failed due to procedural limitations, allowing him to leave after short stays. A turning point occurred in late May when he set fire to their home while she was upstairs, forcing her to call the fire department. The house was filled with piles of garbage and tons of plastic containers. After informing the police and social services, she managed to secure a court order for his hospitalization at a psychiatric facility. However, her fear grows as the days approach for his return home. She emphasized her brother’s refusal to follow medical treatment and his alcohol consumption, which exacerbates his condition. The woman believes the system is failing, leaving her helpless against potential tragedy.
