Four minors attempted to break into a parked car in Piraeus early Monday morning using a crowbar. The incident was captured on camera by a neighbouring residence and caused damage to the vehicle’s door. It occurred near the intersection of Agiou Dimitriou and Psaron streets, on the border between Piraeus and Keratsini.

The car’s owner has already filed an anonymous complaint with police—required for insurance claims—and the estimated repair cost for the damaged door is around €300.

Speaking to newsit.gr, the owner described how she discovered the damage: ‘The car shown in the video is mine. I noticed it on Monday morning when I saw the door had bent.’

As seen in the documentary video published by newsit.gr, the suspects repeatedly tried to force open the door: ‘The kids had a crowbar and were trying to pry it open from the top. Then they all hung on the door and pulled. In the end, the door didn’t open—but it buckled.’

A few minutes later, the arrival of a garbage truck prompted the minors to abandon their attempt: ‘As soon as they realised they couldn’t get the car open—and that someone might spot them—they left.’

The owner added that similar incidents have reportedly occurred elsewhere in the neighbourhood: ‘From what I’ve heard, there have been other similar cases nearby. A relative told me their car had been scratched, and there have been other minor damages too.’

‘What upsets me most is how wrong it is for them to try stealing other people’s property,’ she said, expressing her frustration over both the inconvenience and the unexpected expense caused by the suspects’ actions. This is not the only such incident recorded in the area—other vehicles have also been broken into.
