A serious traffic incident occurred in Piraeus on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. on Herōon Polytechniou Street. A 20-year-old man—unlicensed and reportedly inexperienced behind the wheel—struck a 67-year-old woman in central Piraeus, causing minor injuries before fleeing the scene.
As he drove away, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a passing car. He then struck a parked motorcycle and damaged a shop, again leaving the area without stopping.
Continuing toward Peiraikis Street—the direction of his home—he crashed into six parked cars, causing damage to each, and once more abandoned the scene. His vehicle eventually came to a stop shortly thereafter.
Traffic police located and arrested him just before he reached his residence. According to reports from ERT, the suspect was not under the influence of alcohol, but appeared unfamiliar with basic driving procedures.
He now faces charges including dangerous driving, hit-and-run, causing bodily harm, and property damage. A formal case has been filed, and he is expected to appear before the Piraeus public prosecutor later today.
