A 57-year-old pilot, who was at the controls of a helicopter that crashed into the sea near Vouliagmeni Marina on Sunday afternoon (June 15), has been taken into custody by the Port Authority. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. Besides the pilot, two couples were onboard, including a pregnant woman. According to the Port Authority, the pilot is accused of dangerous interference with communication systems for fixed-route vehicles, ships, and aircraft, causing bodily harm through negligence, and violating regulations during an emergency situation. He will appear before a prosecutor in the coming hours. The incident occurred as the helicopter was attempting to land near the green light entrance of the marina. Emergency services, including the Fire Brigade and coast guard, swiftly responded, rescuing all passengers safely. The helicopter had departed from Aspropyrgos and was en route to Mykonos after picking up passengers at the Astir Vouliagmeni marina. Strong wind gusts reportedly caused the helicopter to rise suddenly before crashing into the sea. The wreckage was later recovered and transported to Tatoi Airport for further investigation.
