Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierakakis emphasized the need for unified, sound economic policies to secure Europe’s future. Speaking ahead of his visit to Hungary—where he is set to meet Prime Minister Péter Márton and Finance Minister András Kármán—the minister highlighted the importance of coordinated action for the continent’s prosperity.
Focus on Macroeconomic Stability and Eurogroup Priorities
The discussions in Budapest will center on macroeconomic developments across Europe, key priorities for the Eurogroup—which Pierakakis currently chairs—as well as issues of shared economic and European interest. A central theme will be Europe’s economic outlook amid global turbulence, particularly disruptions stemming from the conflict in Iran.
Unity in the Face of Shared Challenges
Pierakakis stressed that Europe has always moved forward through dialogue, mutual understanding, and a shared commitment to finding common solutions. “This is especially important today, as our economies face common challenges—none of which any single country can tackle alone,” he said.
In a world marked by economic and geopolitical uncertainty, he added, it remains critical to uphold sound fiscal and monetary policies—and to deepen European economic integration further.
