A 65-year-old man, described as a well-known professional in Lokrida, Phthiotida, has been remanded in custody pending trial on charges of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child. According to Lamiareport, the incident occurred on May 10 in Phthiotida, and the family of the minor filed a formal complaint for sexual harassment just days later.
Alleged Abuse in Isolated Location
According to the case file, the accused approached the child—exploiting an existing acquaintance—and lured him into his car under the pretense of driving him home. Instead, he allegedly drove the minor to a remote area. Once there, he reportedly locked the vehicle and forced the child to engage in sexual acts.
Investigative findings from an urgent preliminary inquiry suggest the man had been frequently seen in the area where the 12-year-old and other children of similar age regularly played.
Remand After Lengthy Interrogation
The suspect was brought before the investigating magistrate in Lamia on Friday, June 26, and given until Monday, June 29, to submit his statement. His interrogation lasted nearly three hours. Following his testimony—and with the agreement of both the magistrate and the public prosecutor—he was ordered detained pending trial. The accused denied all allegations.
The case is being investigated by judicial authorities in Lamia. If convicted, the charges carry severe criminal penalties under Greek law, including possible imprisonment.
