The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to give full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against coronavirus next Monday.
It was the first COVID-19 vaccine to be licensed by the FDA in December and is the most widely used pandemic vaccine in the United States.
Once approved, Pfizer-BioNTech plans to quickly ask the FDA to approve the third dose of its vaccine.
This approval also means that in practice the Pfizer vaccine is no longer considered to be in an “experimental” stage.
