Paulos Marinakis: Zoe Konstantopoulou Tries to Save Her Political Career, Haris Doukas Says ‘Good Luck’ to Athens Residents

Government spokesman Paulos Marinakis, in an interview on Action24 on Friday morning (24.10.25), targeted Alexis Tsipras, Zoe Konstantopoulou, and Athens Mayor Haris Doukas, asserting that the success or failure of the government and New Democracy in the upcoming national elections will not depend on Tsipras or SYRIZA. He emphasized there is no issue with Nikos Dendias. Regarding Tsipras, Marinakis stated he didn’t just leave SYRIZA but also withdrew from Parliament, abandoning the ‘temple of democracy,’ making political confrontation impossible. He criticized Tsipras’s governance with SYRIZA as politically tainted by extreme populism across the ideological spectrum, ultimately dismantling his own support base. Marinakis argued that despite past roles, Tsipras can no longer be taken seriously. He stressed that history cannot be rewritten, only judged by democracy and time. Referring to the 2019 and 2023 elections, he noted New Democracy’s victory reflected public trust, while SYRIZA declined from 31% to 17%, now in single digits, reflecting an opposition with no constructive agenda. On the amendment concerning the Unknown Soldier and potential protests on October 28th, Marinakis affirmed that anyone occupying public spaces illegally, provoking unrest, or threatening citizens acts outside the law. The government, he said, has a clear mandate from the people to break the chains that held the country hostage to ideology.
