Paulos Marinakis: PASOK Criticized for Misinterpreting Moody’s Report

New criticisms have been launched against PASOK by Government Spokesperson Paulos Marinakis regarding the party’s response to the upgrade of Greece’s economy by Moody’s. In his Facebook post, Marinakis pointed out that the opposition, especially former Finance Minister Harilaou Trikoupis, reacted with negativity to the news of Greece’s economic upgrade. He emphasized that while the upgrade from Moody’s—an organization recognized by the European Central Bank—is a significant achievement for Greece, PASOK seems to selectively interpret the report. According to Marinakis, in 2024, PASOK criticized the government’s economic policies due to Moody’s lack of upgrade but now discredits the actual upgrade in 2025. He further noted that the government’s focus is on translating these positive outcomes into real benefits for citizens. The analysis highlighted several achievements, such as the rapid reduction of debt, increased revenue without tax hikes, and budgetary over-performance. Despite this, PASOK’s official statement reportedly contradicted its previous stance, showcasing inconsistency. Marinakis accused the party of spreading falsehoods instead of acknowledging truths.
