Following a formal request from Bulgaria and a decision by Greece’s National Security Council (KYSEA), a Patriot missile battery has been deployed to northern Greece to help safeguard Bulgaria’s airspace. The move is part of a broader regional defense coordination effort amid growing concerns over potential Iranian missile threats.

In addition to the ground-based air defense system, two Greek F-16 fighter jets will also be stationed in the area to monitor and support airspace surveillance over Bulgaria.
