In stable condition and out of danger, Dr. Viví Loukopouloupou, a physician and aspiring member of the Achaia regional council, is being treated at Rio Hospital after driving the vehicle involved in a collision with a train in Patras. As she told flamis.gr, she does not recall any part of the accident. “Her health condition is under control… She had divine intervention. The train stopped within 50 meters after the driver applied emergency brakes. That’s what saved her,” stated her husband. He added, “The barrier only covers one lane. If you descend, there are two lanes but only one has a barrier in front. The left side remains open.” He highlighted that, according to police information, installing a larger barrier would have been costly. “She was returning from an exhausting day at work. She was tired and didn’t see anything,” he further explained regarding the train collision incident. The accident occurred on Good Saturday in the Anthia area of Patras.
