The incident occurred on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, when the Patras Emergency Response Center received a call via the European emergency number ‘112’. The caller claimed he had just been sexually assaulted and urgently needed assistance.
Police units immediately rushed to the location provided by the young man and located him without delay, intending to investigate the alleged crime and offer support. However, their subsequent inquiry revealed the report was entirely fabricated — a deliberate hoax.
Despite likely viewing it as a harmless joke, the teenager failed to anticipate the serious legal consequences.
