Greek airports experienced a 6.4% increase in passenger movement during the first five months of 2025. Specifically, 21,830,648 passengers traveled through Greek airports from January to May 2025, compared to 20,518,545 passengers during the same period in 2024. Regarding aircraft movements (arrivals and departures for domestic and international flights), there was a 5.2% increase across all 39 airports nationwide. In total, 177,397 flights were recorded from January to May 2025, compared to 168,604 flights during the same period in 2024. Passenger traffic at the 24 airports managed by Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) also rose by 8.2%. The Heraklion airport on Crete served over 1 million passengers in May 2025, marking a 2% increase compared to the same month last year. Notable increases were observed at smaller regional airports such as Nea Anchialos (+313.8%), Ioannina (+56.1%), Araxos (+30.2%), and Naxos (+24.8%).
