Customs officers at the Hellenic Customs Authority (A.A.D.E.) discovered 17 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Brazil via Dubai at the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. Specifically, A.A.D.E. officials, with the assistance of the drug-detection dog ‘Diego’ and using intelligence information, conducted a check on an Italian national traveling from São Paulo, Brazil, through Dubai, destined for Athens. During the inspection, eight nylon packages containing cocaine weighing a total of 17 kilograms were found and seized from the Italian traveler’s baggage. The passenger was arrested for violating narcotics laws and handed over to the competent prosecutor. According to the annual report of the Coordinating Authority for Narcotics Prosecution (SODN), the value of the seized quantity exceeds €850,000 and could reach up to €1.7 million.
