PASOK Unveils Attica Campaign Plan with Protapapas, Papavasileiou, Michas and Margaritis

With national elections—whenever they are called—firmly in focus, PASOK is intensifying its efforts to shift public perception in Attica. While the party’s polling numbers appear stable around third place, it believes it has a credible path to challenge that standing—and even secure first place, by even a single vote.

A Campaign Built on Substance

PASOK leaders stress that ‘the ballot box is the best poll’, and until voting day arrives, they’re committing to a sustained, high-energy campaign—regardless of cost—to deliver consistent, realistic proposals aimed squarely at improving people’s daily lives. This approach is already yielding results: during Nikos Androulakis’s recent public engagements, citizens have shown noticeably more interest when he responds directly to questions about everyday concerns—housing, transport, wages—than when discussions veer toward post-election alliances or internal party maneuvering. In fact, some within the party have quietly signaled impatience with those who persistently steer public debate toward coalition speculation rather than policy.

Weekly Policy Launches Underway

Since forming its ‘shadow government’ to counter Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s administration, PASOK has launched a structured outreach effort. Starting this month and continuing through late July, the party plans weekly central events—mini-campaign rallies—each culminating in at least one flagship proposal designed for broad, constructive public discussion.

Early successes include its pilot proposal for a four-day workweek where feasible, and its initiative for free public transport for all young people up to age 24 across Attica and Thessaloniki. Upcoming thematic events will tackle housing, predatory lending, traffic congestion, civil protection, and universal, free public healthcare.

Attica Leadership Team Announced

A key pillar of the strategy is a targeted revitalization of PASOK’s presence across the Athens basin. Though final regional leadership appointments haven’t been formally announced, internal sources confirm the following assignments:

  • Central Athens: Christos Protapapas
  • Northern Athens: Giorgos Papavasileiou
  • Southern Athens: Yiannis Michas
  • Western Athens: Theodoros Margaritis
  • Eastern Attica: Xenos Maniatogiannis, former mayor of Vrilissia
  • Western Attica: Kostas Papadimitriou
  • Piraeus A & B constituencies: Nikos Mili and Efthalia Halatsi respectively

Ballot Lists Near Completion

Nikos Androulakis has instructed party teams to accelerate work on candidate lists—currently reported to be nearly 80% complete, according to insiders familiar with operations at the party’s headquarters on Charilaou Trikoupi Street. Broader announcements are expected soon as part of PASOK’s wider effort to achieve ‘bilateral expansion’—deepening grassroots engagement while also strengthening institutional credibility.

Meanwhile, shadow ministers—including Anna Diamantopoulou, who celebrated a recent milestone on social media—have begun substantive policy work across their assigned portfolios.
