At Harilalou Trikoupis, the clear strategy of Megaro Maximos is now understood. It aims to highlight a bipolar scenario between ND and the center voters, encouraging them to strengthen the ruling party to prevent national collapse. In reality, this plan primarily targets PASOK, pushing centrist voters towards ND. Despite recognizing these strategic moves by the government, PASOK’s options are limited due to the overwhelming focus on the Tempi scandal. Public opinion holds the government accountable for numerous errors and cover-ups, while Freedom Voyage, led by Zoï Konstantinopoulou, has taken the lead as advocates for victims’ families. Although PASOK has taken initiatives (pre-investigation committee, vote of no confidence), it appears to be following in the matter. Polls show stagnation for Nikos Androulakis’ party, creating little expectation at Harilalou Trikoupis. The real problem for the opposition leader is more severe than imagined. While some PASOK members advocate for continued independence, others support collaboration with other progressive parties to form an alternative government. However, cooperation with SYRIZA, New Left, or Zoï Konstantinopoulou remains undesirable. Internally, there’s a push for PASOK to lead a front against Kyriakos Mitsotakis, given its current polling percentages (12%-14%), making it unlikely to pose a significant threat to ND. Thus, Harilalou Trikoupis seeks a new tactic to break this poll stagnation. This endeavor seems challenging. Nikos Androulakis, speaking at InSocial’s event marking 25 years since Greece’s entry into the Eurozone, emphasized the lack of national strategy by the ND government, which relies on polls and avoids political costs. He noted widespread societal pessimism and anger two years after the Tempi tragedy, highlighting policies favoring economic elites over middle and vulnerable classes.
