Nikos Androulakis is set to initiate a comprehensive restart within PASOK, aiming to leave behind the inward-looking climate that has dominated the party recently. Party members currently appear disoriented as their public image remains less than ideal. Recent polls before Easter sparked intense discussions among PASOK members who struggle to understand what’s going wrong and why the party can’t bounce back. Notably, just before heading to Crete, Androulakis held an extensive meeting at Charilaou Trikoupis Street, attended by prominent figures such as Andreas Spyropoulos, Anna Diamantopoulou, Kostas Tsoukalas, Panagiotis Doukas, and Dimitris Mantsos. Among other decisions, it was agreed to strengthen the party’s communication sector, improve the efficiency of Androulakis’ office, and clarify the party’s stance on alliances. The issue of alliances has been controversial, with some like Tsoukalas advocating bold openings across the progressive spectrum, while Anna Diamantopoulou seems reluctant. After the meeting, MPs and officials were instructed to use the holiday period to reconnect with citizens and explain party positions. Additionally, Androulakis called on the prime minister to provide updates on key national projects. He also visited a fire station in Thessaloniki, emphasizing the need for better treatment of firefighters. Looking ahead, there are plans for further meetings and events focusing on everyday citizen issues, including housing proposals and addressing taxation and private debt.
