Following the Interview poll where for the first time Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ New Democracy appeared in second place, while PASOK moved to third, there was mobilization within the party on how to address this reversal. As PASOK officials state, the key concern is if this image becomes entrenched in the polls, as reversing it would then be exceptionally difficult. The same individuals do not hide their concerns about this development, emphasizing that PASOK has undertaken initiatives on all issues and serves as a serious and institutional opposition. However, they note that at this moment, it benefits the government to appear as though it is facing an anti-systemic party rather than PASOK. MP Michalis Katrinis commented that while one poll cannot draw broader political conclusions, he does not underestimate its value. He highlighted that it reflects a heated period following intense parliamentary debates. Communication Officer Kostas Tsoukalas emphasized seeing a stable PASOK – Movement of Change and noted discrepancies in the specific poll compared to others. He also addressed upcoming reshuffles, suggesting they reflect tactics from the old-party playbook when a government is in full retreat. The goal, according to PASOK, is clear: to ensure New Democracy faces no strong opposition from PASOK, knowing only it can show them the door out of power.
