In a desperate attempt to deliver a critical blow and shake up the centrist voters who follow them, members of the Charilaou Trikoupis faction identified their party with the Pleiade Eleutherias. It is worth recalling that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about a ‘coalition of the willing’ and an ‘unusual alliance of four parties,’ while addressing Nikos Androulakis, the president of PASOK, he said: ‘You, Mr. Androulakis, are the tail of Mrs. Konstantopoulou, Mr. Fammelou, and Mr. Haritsis; only Velopoulos is missing.’ Members of the Charilaou Trikoupis faction strongly reacted, emphasizing that ‘the government will account for its criminal incompetence and failure within three days. The much-quoted phrases we heard at the end of today’s parliamentary appearance will not be enough to avoid the questions they are heavily exposed to against the backdrop of the grand oratory of the Greek people. We are the leading force of the opposition. Mr. Mitsotakis knows that only with the vote for PASOK can the people open the door to his exit. His much-quoted crowns no longer mean anything to anyone.’ They added that ‘what the prime minister said are overused clichés which now “no one buys” and do not alleviate the defensive position the government will find itself in.’ Regarding Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s presence at yesterday’s debate, they pointed out that the prime minister appeared in parliament with arrogance and immeasurable hubris, demonstrating his hypocritical political stance after the grand oratory. ‘A prime minister who did not apologize for strategically misleading citizens and propaganda built on tragedy, for the shield of protection provocatively spread among his ministers, and did not take any message from society’s cry for an effective and modern state, which he failed miserably to offer,’ stated PASOK members. Referring to the risk of the motion of no confidence, they emphasized that ‘a government, which in the eyes of the world is guilty of cover-ups and according to its own statement is incompetent, cannot stand. Greeks deserve something much better. Immediate political change is needed to end the decline.’ According to information, the Parliamentary Group will give dynamic support with speeches in the plenary session aiming for the complete demolition of New Democracy and highlighting their total failure.
