A nationwide test activation of all Civil Defense alarm sirens will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, as part of the military exercise ‘Parthenion 2025’, announced the Hellenic Police (ELAS). The police emphasized that the siren activation is purely for testing purposes and should not cause public confusion or concern. Simultaneously with the sirens, church bells across the country will ring in rapid succession for three minutes. The schedule is as follows: At 11:00 local time, an air raid alert signal (60 seconds of intermittent sound) will be issued nationwide. At 11:05, an all-clear signal (60 seconds of continuous sound) will follow nationwide. Additional alerts and all-clear signals will then occur regionally between 11:10 and 12:55, covering Northeastern, Southern, Western, Central, and Eastern sectors, including Attica and Thessaloniki, with specific signals for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threat warnings and attacks. Each signal lasts 60 or 120 seconds according to type.
