Nikos Kondou was one of those who participated in the Paris Paralympic Games with our country, with 32 year old “opening” his heart and talking about where he changed his life, sending a shocking message. Life reserved a surprise to Nikos Kondou, however, with Roditis never giving up, taking his life with a different perspective and setting other goals. The paralympian who took the 5th place in the 100-metre high school S1 and 6th at 50 metres S1 spoke on the show “Where there is Greece” with his words moving. CORVERSE This is because he sent a message of human power, stating the details of his creepy accident from which his neck was broken, but also the great decision he made to participate in the Paralympic Games. The words of Nikos Kontos “The accident occurred on our wedding day, which just before we left the center, I took a dip and broke my neck. It took about a year to get home. We went to a rehabilitation center in Switzerland, came to Athens to another rehabilitation centre and then ended up at a club in Komotini, Perpatos, where we met Alex Taxildaris who is a Paralympian swimming and he urged me to start swimming. I see him fall into the pool, I say to him, “Is there any chance I can break my neck again?” he says, “No, there is no way. CORVERSE And I fall into the pool and as soon as I go out I say “I will become a Paralympian”. After the accident, I’ve learned to live from the beginning. Because I have damage to the upper limbs, I started to learn from the beginning how to brush my teeth, how to dress… everything. You see life differently. You suddenly see that there is room for you to do anything, as long as there is a will.”
