Greek Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis has announced new entrepreneurship support measures totaling €140 million for businesses in the Just Transition Regions — specifically targeting the Region of Western Macedonia, as well as the municipalities of Megalopoli, Oichalia, Gortynia, and Tripoli in the Peloponnese Region.
Supporting Economic Transformation
The initiative aims to drive productive restructuring in areas affected by the energy transition, helping companies modernize technologically, upgrade production capacity, and strengthen competitiveness. It targets both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large firms operating in these regions.
Funding Scope and Eligibility
Funding applications cover investment projects with eligible budgets ranging from €300,000 to €12 million for SMEs, and from €5 million to €40 million for large enterprises.
The grant intensity — i.e., the percentage of public co-financing — varies by company size:
- 50% for large enterprises
- 60% for medium-sized enterprises
- 70% for small and micro-enterprises
Eligible Expenditures
Qualifying expenses fall under three main categories, aligned with provisions of Greece’s General Aid Regulation (GAR):
1. Tangible and Intangible Assets (Article 14)
This includes buildings, facilities, surrounding land, purchased premises, equipment, software, environmentally friendly transport vehicles, product and process certifications, and patents.
2. Renewable Energy Production (Article 41)
Investments in on-site renewable energy generation — including heat pumps and electricity storage systems — aimed at self-consumption are eligible.
3. Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Article 33)
Costs related to hiring and integrating workers with disabilities into the workforce are also covered.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted exclusively online via Greece’s Integrated Information System for State Aid (IIS-SA), starting 15 July 2026 at 13:00 and closing on 30 September 2026 at 14:00.
