The final chapter of the tragedy that shocked Romania and Greece closes today (31.01.2026), following the fatal crash involving PAOK fans’ black van and a red truck on the so-called ‘Road of Death’. Funerals for the five victims will take place across Imathia and Thessaly—their hometowns—starting at 12:00. Families have requested no media coverage. One of the three injured fans, a 28-year-old discharged Friday after treatment in Romania and at Thessaloniki’s Papageorgiou Hospital, will attend. His health is stable. A second injured fan remains hospitalized at Papani-kolau Hospital with a non-life-threatening brain fracture and temporary amnesia—he recalls nothing of the accident or the loss of his fellow supporters. The third, a 20-year-old still in a Romanian hospital, underwent emergency surgery for cervical spine fracture and swelling; he has begun moving his legs, offering hope, though he remains intubated. Authorities continue investigating the cause of the crash.
