Panos Kammenos Apologizes to Nikos Kotzias, Ending Their Legal Feud

No one expected that the long-standing legal battle between Panos Kammenos and Nikos Kotzias would end peacefully and without incidents. However, as it turned out on April 2, 2025, this theory was proven wrong. The two men had been in conflict after former Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias filed a complaint against former Defense Minister Panos Kammenos for continuous slander and the dissemination of false news during January–February 2019. Nevertheless, as revealed by Kotzias, the feud came to an end when Kammenos offered both written and verbal apologies. In a social media post, Kotzias wrote: ‘Today, Kammenos asked me in court for both written and verbal public apology and admitted in his statement that I am honest and a person of integrity. The truth has prevailed.’ Kotzias also shared a photo of Kammenos’ statement confirming the former Defense Minister’s steps towards reconciliation. The official statement read: ‘In the context of extrajudicial settlement of all pending criminal and civil cases between me and Mr. Nikos Kotzias, from which we mutually withdraw, I declare before you that all controversial statements I made in the media and before the Hellenic Parliament did NOT personally concern Mr. Kotzias but other factors, and were products of misinformation, which I retract and never questioned the integrity and ethics of Mr. Kotzias.’
