A near-tragedy unfolded in Lahore, Pakistan, as a tamed lion escaped from its owners and chased a woman and her two children on a busy street. The incident occurred yesterday evening in the eastern city of Lahore, home to 13 million people. According to police reports, the lion leaped over a house wall and pursued the woman who was carrying shopping bags. The animal then pounced on her, knocking her to the ground. Police say the lion turned its attention to the children, aged five and seven, biting them on the arms and face. All three victims were taken to the hospital but did not sustain serious injuries. The father described how the animal’s owners came out of their house and watched the attack unfold for amusement. Authorities confirmed today that three suspects have been arrested after fleeing with the lion. The male lion, 11 months old, was seized and transferred to a wildlife sanctuary, where it is reported to be in good condition.
