The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) officially acquired its own home as the purchase of the facility in Paiania was unanimously approved by the General Assembly of Members. EPO President Makis Gagatsis presented the plan for the “Giorgos Vardinogiannis” center, which was subsequently endorsed by member associations. From now on, national teams will have a permanent base for training and preparation. During the emergency general assembly of Greek football federation member associations, President Gagatsis highlighted the importance of acquiring the ‘home’ for the national teams at the training center in Paiania. He emphasized that since his election on July 22, 2024, the administration’s primary goal was to find a location for constructing a training center for the national teams—a long-standing issue unresolved by previous administrations. After thorough legal and technical evaluations of various sites, the Paiania center stood out due to its operational status and suitability. The purchase price is set at €21.5 million, with additional costs covering taxes and fees. Funding will come from FIFA, UEFA, and internal resources without any borrowing. FIFA and UEFA will contribute €18.5 million through their programs. As part of the agreement, the new Training Center will be named ‘Giorgos Vardinogiannis.’ This marks a historic moment in Greek football history, ensuring a legacy for future national teams.
