Owen Cooper: The Rising Star of Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’

The star of the series ‘Adolescence,’ 14-year-old Owen Cooper, once dreamt of becoming a footballer but found his true calling in acting. The young actor has quickly become the highlight of the show that is taking Netflix by storm. Speaking about his journey before becoming an actor, Cooper admitted, ‘Literally no experience… I really wanted to start acting just two years ago. It hasn’t been long. Growing up, I wanted to be a footballer. I don’t know what made me want to act, but I just did. After attending classes, I loved it. Then I joined a small agency, and they asked for an audition tape for ‘Adolescence.’ Everything flowed from there.’ In a behind-the-scenes video released by Netflix, Cooper can be seen auditioning for the role of Jamie, which involves a dramatic scene at the police station where Jamie is held after his arrest. His next big project will see him portraying the young Heathcliff in ‘Wuthering Heights,’ a role that will later be taken over by Jacob Elordi.
