Sunday afternoon in Fthiotida turned chaotic as fans of AEK reportedly attacked supporters of PAOK traveling from Trikala to Athens for a match against Olympiakos. PAOK fans were also en route to Athens for their futsal team’s game against Ermis Zografou when they stopped near Agios Konstantinos. The presence of AEK fans was noticed, sparking violent clashes. According to police reports, over 100 individuals were detained, with 34 being formally arrested. Two people sustained minor injuries while boarding the last bus, requiring medical attention from an ambulance on-site. Damage was also reported to the bus’s windows. Strong police forces from the Fthiotida Police Directorate immediately responded but found that individuals in the first two buses had already left the scene. Extensive searches followed, leading to the interception of two buses heading north with people linked to the initial incident. Collaborating with other police units, all passengers were brought to the Fthiotida Police Directorate for further investigation. A total of 110 detentions were made, resulting in 34 arrests based on subsequent police investigations. Legal charges include dangerous bodily harm by conspiracy, attempted dangerous bodily harm by conspiracy, unintentional destruction of property, and violation of sports legislation. Prosecutors were informed immediately, and the preliminary investigation is being conducted methodically by the Lamia Division for Crime Investigation and Tracking.
