Opinion Poll: ND Leads with 32.7%, PASOK Second at 13.2% — Low Support for New Parties by Karystianou, Tsipras, Samaras

in

According to a new Opinion Poll survey conducted for Action 24, New Democracy (ND) remains the clear frontrunner in Greek politics, securing 32.7% support in vote intention — more than double that of second-place PASOK, which stands at 13.2%. No other party reaches double digits.

New Parties Struggle for Traction

Prospects for new political initiatives appear dim: support for potential parties led by Maria Karystianou, Alexis Tsipras, and Antonis Samaras remains low across the board. Just 7% of respondents say they would be ‘very likely’ to vote for a new Tsipras-led party; 9.2% for Karystianou’s; and only 3% for Samaras’s. A majority — 75.2% — say it’s ‘unlikely’ they’d vote for a new Samaras formation.

Stability Over Protest — But Public Divided on Government Type

When asked about their primary motivation for voting in the next election, 55.1% said they would vote to ensure political stability, while 34.1% said their vote would be an act of protest. On government formation, public opinion is nearly evenly split: 46.4% prefer a coalition government, while 45.4% favour a single-party, majority administration.

Economic Concerns Dominate Voters’ Minds

The top concern for Greeks remains cost-of-living pressures and inflation — cited by 49.6% of respondents — followed closely by broader economic issues (35.1%). These concerns far outweigh others, including unemployment or migration.

Strong Anxiety Over Iran Conflict — Broad Support for Greece’s Role in Cyprus

A striking 85.4% of respondents express ‘great’ or ‘moderate’ concern over escalating tensions in Iran. Meanwhile, 73% back Greece’s decision to deploy fighter jets and frigates to Cyprus — a move aimed at reinforcing regional security — while 22.7% oppose it.

Leadership Preferences and ND’s Third-Term Prospects

Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate, named by 31.4% of respondents. The ‘none of the above’ option follows closely at 29.5%, underscoring voter detachment from alternatives. Other figures trail significantly: Zoe Konstantopoulou (6.6%), Kyriakos Velopoulos (6.3%), and Nikos Androulakis (5.8%).

Regarding ND’s chances of winning a third consecutive term, 56.6% consider it ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ likely — while 39.4% view it as ‘slightly’ or ‘not at all’ likely.
