Operation ‘Shields’: High Risk of Attacks on US and Israeli Ships

The level of alertness for US and Israeli ships in the Red Sea has increased following American attacks on nuclear installations. Operation ‘Shields’ issued an urgent warning late Sunday (22.06.2026). The operation cautions the maritime community about potential threats that could disrupt security at sea due to dramatic developments in the Middle East. The alert level for American and Israeli vessels passing through the Red Sea, Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, and Aden Gulf has been raised to ‘high.’ These vessels are advised to avoid routes entering Yemeni territorial waters. The risk assessment remains ‘low’ for ships not associated with US or Israeli interests traveling through the same maritime areas; however, the possibility of becoming a target cannot be ruled out.
