At the age of 107, John Kinsel, one of the last Navajo Indians, left life. Indian Kinsel was a creator and speaker of the “Navaho Code”, a code used by the Allies in World War II and the Axis forces were never able to decode. This secret language that was transformed into a terrible “weapon” from the native language of the Navajo Indians, played a huge role in the victory of American forces in battle with Nazism. After his death only two Navajo speakers are alive. He had joined the Marines in 1942. He had stated to “Guardian” in 2015 that for decades no one knew what his mission was during his tenure. “Not even the Navajo nation knew” he had stated. The program was classified for decades and only in 1968 the U.S. Army degraved the relevant material, so the Navajo contribution became known. According to “Navajo Times”, he built a home for his loved ones in the country where he grew up, incorporating the values of resilience and commitment to the family, which are central to Navajo culture. Notable is the fact that he never left his hometown, becoming a stable figure in the community.
