Olympiakos vs OFI in Greek Cup Final After 35 Years

The OFI Crete returns to the Greek Cup final after 35 years, once again facing Olympiakos, just like in 1990. The historic qualification for the Greek Cup final sees the Cretan team up against Olympiakos, a remake of their 1990 encounter. Back then, Olympiakos triumphed with a 4-2 victory in a game that, by an eerie coincidence, took place on May 17 at OAKA—the exact date and venue for the 2025 final! For the club from Heraklion, this will be their third appearance in a final, having previously qualified in 1987. That year, the legendary team led by Eugenio Gerard won 3-1 in penalty shootouts against Iraklis (1-1 in regular time), with scorers Gregoris Haralampidis and Savvas Kofidis. Myron Sehakis, the club’s goalkeeper, was the hero, saving two penalties! This remains the only title for the Cretan team, who returned to the final three years later but lost 4-2 to Olympiakos.
