Olympia Road: Full-speed for zero carbon footprint

One of the country’s largest highways, or has targeted zero energy footprint by 2030. The highway that was built was the most difficult because the Corinth – Patras section was being reconstructed alongside traffic, in the same engraving, in addition to the tunnels, Olympia Street is due to reach the Tower in the summer of 2025, greatly upgrading road safety, as the Patras – Tower section, in its current form has been described as a carmaniola. At the 2023 Sustainable Development Report published by Olympia Street, it confirms its commitment to sustainable development and responsible operation. As far as road safety and infrastructure are concerned, Olympia Street invests in modern technologies such as Smart Tunnel and the MIRANDA diagnostic tool, which ensure that the highway operates with the highest performance standards, especially for monitoring infrastructure quality. In fact, in 2023 he carried out Great Scale and Winter Maintenance exercises and road safety campaigns. In travel experiences, the transceiver Olympia PASS, with an innovative system of mileage charge, allows drivers, individuals and professionals, to pay only for the distance they travel. Besides, for professional drivers, the company created a special parking space in S.A. Incontinent, offering safe and comfortable rest conditions. Another feature, which I have already enjoyed, is drinking water produced at 11 parking points, a patent in collaboration with the National Technical University that collects the air vapors and turns them into water. Moreover, as far as environmental responsibility is concerned, Olympia Street has so far reduced its carbon footprint by 49% from 2018 to the end of 2023. It is currently developing 19 photovoltaic parks that will fully meet its energy needs, aiming at a zero energy footprint motorway by 2030. For human resources the company offers an equal, inclusive and fair working environment, while also implementing strict policies on safety and health at the workplace, which was sealed with the Health & Safety Awards 2023 award. The commitment to promote equal opportunities at the workplace was strengthened by signing the Diversity Charter. By concluding in the field of social responsibility , the highway plays an active role in supporting local communities and economies, with an annual contribution to social development (payments to suppliers, payments to capital providers, taxes paid, social investments etc.) which in 2023 reached 264 million euros. The program included Corporate Social Responsibility actions in relation to Road Safety, training in schools in collaboration with IOS, Culture, Sports and the Environment.
