The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF)-backed Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (OLP) is accelerating its strategic evolution, following a major amendment to its corporate charter — approved by 99.4% of shareholders. The revision modernizes OLP’s legal framework to align with contemporary business practices and reflects the company’s broader ambitions in port infrastructure, logistics, and integrated supply chain development.
A Broader Strategic Horizon
With the updated charter, OLP gains enhanced flexibility to operate beyond the geographical confines of the Port of Piraeus. It can now pursue participation in joint ventures or consortia for the development, operation, or management of port facilities both within Greece and internationally. Additionally, the company is empowered to offer specialized services in port activity planning and operational organization — reinforcing its role as a regional maritime hub operator.
Logistics as a Core Growth Pillar
A key outcome of the charter update is the formal expansion of OLP’s mandate into end-to-end logistics solutions. This includes the ability to establish subsidiaries focused specifically on logistics infrastructure and services — a sector increasingly vital to global trade efficiency and regional competitiveness. The move signals OLP’s intent to diversify beyond traditional port operations and capture added value across the maritime supply chain.
Strategic Clarity from Leadership
Han Chao, Chairman of OLP, emphasized that the amendment is not an isolated administrative change but a foundational step toward long-term growth. In his statement, he underscored that the company remains fully committed to implementing projects outlined in its approved Master Plan — including ongoing and future investments in port capacity, digitalization, green infrastructure, and intermodal connectivity.
Chao clarified that while the revised charter opens avenues for potential partnerships and international ventures, no specific foreign or domestic project is currently under active pursuit. Rather, it establishes a forward-looking, adaptable governance structure — one that enables OLP to assess opportunities rigorously against its strategic priorities and macroeconomic contribution goals.
“Today’s amendment strengthens our capacity to plan and invest with long-term vision — for the benefit of the company, its shareholders, and the Greek economy,” Chao stated.
