Offshore wind: Green light for ‘Crete 1’

Green light on the launch of the medium-term offshore development phase in the Greek seas, yesterday (23.9.2024) of the Ministry of Culture (later from a proposal from the KAS), which accepted the request for treatment submitted by RIS. By the decision, in essence, the area off Gavros and the sea parcel “Kretis 1” (between Zakros and Xerocampos Sitia) were re-entered into the National Programme, which had been excluded from the “green light” originally given by the Hellenic Ministry of Environmental Impact Study Strategy (SME) for the National Development Programme for offshore wind farms. In fact, this development is of particular importance, as both the “Crete 1” and the sea parcel of Yaros were included in the 6 areas selected for the medium-term development phase of wind parks, by 2030 – 2032.
