Official visit Quick the Patriarchate of Jerusalem for the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos

“The work on restoration of the canopy of the Holy Sepulchre in the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem, go with…
absolute consistency in the timetable has been set, so to have been completed in March 2017, long before the Passover, and the Touch of the Holy Light.
The work is done by a team of professors and technicians of the National Technical University of athens, headed by professor mrs. Tonia Moropoulou.
For the restoration of the canopy of the Holy Sepulchre, has shown a personal interest, giving specific instructions, the prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, who in the last few months has twice visited the Patriarchate here in Jerusalem.
I’m not sloppy to give you all the details for the subscription by the Greek government in the very important work, but what I know is that from the beginning of the summer the group Moropoulou joined two Maintenance workers, sent by the Culture Minister Aristides Baltas, after consultation with the Prime minister.
I had the opportunity in this visit to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem to visit the site, with the teacher mrs. Tonia Moropoulou explains to me the enormous difficulties of the task, that is, stone by stone, piece by piece, as time and erosion had “inflated” the canopy of the Holy Sepulchre, with imminent danger of full collapse, as well as the external iron columns, which had put the British in 1948, it was a matter of if you will stand, in the next few years.
His beatitude the Archbishop of Jerusalem mr Theophilus begged me to convey to the prime minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras infinite thanks, for what does the Greek government and himself personally, in the project of the Holy Sepulchre”.
This was stated by the Secretary of state to the prime Minister Terence Quick visiting officially the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, on the occasion of today’s celebration of the Dormition of Theotokos in Gethsemane and the Holy sepulchre.
On the occasion of this official visit, and representation of the Prime minister and the government on the religious events of Gethsemane, the state Secretary in the prime Minister’s office Terrence Quick, had a private meeting with the Patriarch, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, mr. Christos Σοφιανόπουλο and the Director-General of the Office of the Deputy minister mr. Kostas Μειμάρη.
The deputy Minister also visited some of the monasteries of the Holy land, as St. Gerasimos Ιορδανίτη, the Prophet Elijah, and the Monastery of Σαραντάριου Conditions in the area of Jericho.
As stated by Terrence Quick, then the monastic visits:
“In all the monasteries, where hoist the Greek flag, I have heard from a few monks, and the pilgrims, the same message: That here, in the Holy Land in all the monasteries of the Orthodox world, “beats”, the heart of Greece. It’s touching to see whole groups of pilgrims, not only from Greece but also from Russia, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia…
Impressive and the scene where I lived, Ethiopian pilgrims to be baptized christians in the Jordan river”.
The deputy Minister attached to the prime Minister Terence Quick has also had a private meeting with the new Ambassador of Greece to Israel, mr. Konstantinos Bikas.
