The final scenes of ‘Odyssey’ are being filmed today, Friday (21/3/25), with a battle taking place in the Armyrólakkas area. The $250 million Hollywood film directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron has centered around the region of Messinia for nearly two weeks. Following Methoni and the Nestor cave, it’s now time for a battle at Armyrólakkas. All this unfolds in a recreated fishing village built specifically for the shoot. After the battle concludes, the village is set ablaze, with even a helicopter deployed for filming needs. By midday Friday, the ship carrying Odysseus and his men on their journey back from Troy arrived at the local beaches where the fishing village and battle scene are located. Over 100 actors and extras have been present in Greece for rehearsals, filming, and constructing movie sets, drawing global attention to Nolan’s ‘Odyssey.’ Extras and actors dressed as ancient hoplites added color to the streets of Pylos and other areas of Messinia, where the heart of Hollywood beat these past few days.
