In response to the allegations made yesterday by the former influential figure of Hellas, Konstantinos Froutzis, regarding pressures to name political figures, the former anti-corruption prosecutor, Eleni Touloupaki, and the former assistant anti-corruption prosecutor, Christos Dzouras, have filed a complaint against Froutzis. The prosecutors accused him of false testimony, slanderous defamation, and false accusation. They are demanding that immediate legal proceedings be initiated based on his statements in the Single-Member Court of Athens during the trial of two former protected witnesses in the Novartis case. According to information, the prosecutors referenced the judicial council’s ruling 25/2022 from the Areios Pagos court concerning the Novartis case, which states that the meeting with Froutzis was initiated by him. During this meeting, Froutzis reportedly claimed he was wrongly implicated in the Novartis case, that the criminal prosecution against him was unjust, and that he had done nothing illegal. Both lawyers present at the meeting denied any pressure exerted by the anti-corruption prosecutors to accuse political figures. Furthermore, Touloupaki did not mention specific names or exhibit coercive behavior. The ruling unanimously and irrevocably acquitted both prosecutors, declaring the accusations against them as false.
