Nova, a member of United Group, the leading telecommunications and media provider in Southeastern Europe, participated in The Economist’s 29th Annual Government Roundtable on July 2, 2025, in Athens. The event featured a speech by Alexandros Bregiannakis, CEO of Nova ICT, who spoke on the panel titled ‘Examining the Opportunities and Challenges in the Era of Agentic AI.’

The panel also included distinguished speakers such as Dimitris Papastergiou (Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence), Francis Fukuyama (Senior Fellow at Stanford University), Sudhanshu Asthana (Vice President EMEA – Digital Business, Iron Mountain), George Sioufas (Managing Partner, Sioufas & Associates Law Firm), Alexandros Manos (CEO, Netcompany SEE & EUI), Efi Preveia (General Manager of Technology & Information Systems at DEI), and Bill Karnazes (CSO & GM Corporate Services, Viohalco Companies). The discussion was moderated by John Andrews, journalist and Consultant Editor at The Economist.

The conversation centered around the transformative potential of agentic AI — a new generation of artificial intelligence — and how Europe can lead in digital competitiveness, resilience, and responsible innovation.

During his presentation, Alexandros Bregiannakis emphasized that “at Nova, we believe agentic AI is a key catalyst for the future of telecommunications and information and Communication Technologies (ICT). We focus on this cutting-edge technology to remain at the forefront of delivering innovative, high-quality services to our customers.” He further noted that “agentic AI represents the maturation of artificial intelligence. We must evolve alongside it to avoid deviations in ethics, security, and personal data protection.”

Nova ICT integrates AI into solutions with tangible environmental and social impact, including:

– **Smart Forest**: An innovative Civil Protection system using next-generation networks, high-resolution cameras, machine learning, and IoT-connected sensors. Data is processed by agentic AI systems that immediately alert authorities in case of danger.
– **National Cancer Registry**: A platform designed for comprehensive monitoring of oncology and hematology patients. Supported by agentic AI algorithms, medical staff can more easily choose the appropriate treatment protocol to improve the effectiveness of patient care.

The 29th Annual Government Roundtable brought together top representatives from government, academia, business, and international organizations to deeply explore major economic, social, geopolitical, environmental, and technological issues.
