With four aired from today Thursday (02.01.2025) throughout the country the new year begins. The sweeping passage of “Exist”, which proves the timeless love of the Greeks for Kazantzidis, does not leave much room for the other films shown in cinemas, the first week of the New Year. CORVERSE Thus, from the new four when arrivals, they distinguish, primarily, the remake of Robert Egert’s classic film “Nosferato” and secondly, Michael Gracie’s resume musical “Better Man”. Also featured are the French violent drama “Ragged Hearts” by Jill Lelus and the children’s animated film “Sonic 3: The Film”. Nosferatu (“Nosferatu”) Film of horror, American production of 2024, directed by Robert Egert, with Bill Scarsgard, Nicholas Hult, Lily-Rose Melody Depp, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corinne, Ralph Eineson, Simon McBarney etc.One of the most anticipated films of the year, the remake of Murnau’s iconic film, comes with the 2025 eba, to compete with the success of the year, as evidenced by the “Exist”. CORVERSE Bram Stoker’s classic novel, is transferred third time to the large screen, following Murnau’s original expressionist masterpiece 102 years ago and the second good attempt by the special creator Werner Herjog in 1979, to remind us that there will always be exceptions for the remake of films, which we believe should be left untouched. The examples of classic films that were filmed and crowned by the total failure of many. On the contrary, few films have been able to stand next to the originals, such as, decent or even equal. Robert Egers, a master director, with good examples in his short course at the cinema (“The Lighthouse”, “The Man from the North”, “The Witch”) will dare to make his dream come true – something he has been planning for about ten years – and even securing funds from quality Focus Features and Universal. Having therefore all the conditions to unfold his plan and writing the script himself, he will be able to highlight the power of the terrible myth and remaining faithful to the original film, to send an elaborate, detailed, venerable and intelligent letter of love to the original work of Murnau. A young employee, Hooter, travels to Carpathia to deliver some contracts to the mysterious Count Orlock, who is looking for a home in Germany. Before even reaching the castle of the Count, Hooter perceives the terror of the inhabitants of the nearby village. When the Count, with the terrifying appearance, sees Hooter’s talisman with his beautiful wife’s picture, Helen, immediately signs the contracts and acquires an old house in Germany. Soon Hooter discovers that with this contract he opens the way, to bring terror to his city, which will mainly touch his wife. Technically and aesthetically flawless Eggers, he finds the opportunity to make a key comment about our time and the pandemic fear, which has spread, with impressive images and eerie sequence of hallucinations, giving his own stigma to the work. From there on, despite the thought directed, the photograph that refers to the 19th century romance and the use of natural lighting, but also the exterior filming that enhances the authenticity of the 19th century scene and Germany and as a whole creating an apocalyptic horrifying atmosphere, reveals its weaknesses. As he brings his cursed hero closer to today’s audience – taking advantage of modern technical possibilities and his stylized portrayal, he cannot approach the emotional torrent of Murnau and the tragicity of Count Orlock, who behind his subtlely terrifying appearance – which here cannot be compared to that of the 1922 film or even Herjog – hides the passion that will eliminate him. Where Egers is doing better, it is his handling for Helen’s psychological subtlety and Freudian test, which is attracted to the vampire while at the same time disgusting it, realizing that these two instincts must be reconciled. Except for the slow start of the film, which probably exaggerates the building of the characters and some scenes that take more than it should, Eggers delivers a film, which may lose to a soul, but wins with his overall effort and is certainly one of those cases that stand decently next to the original and not any, but Murnau’s. The interpretations of the protagonists of this cursed love triangle are notable, with Scarskgarde bodybuilding the horrors and character of Count Orlock, while Lily-Rose Melody Depp (daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paranti) clearly stands out by achieving balance, without resorting to conveniences, grief, terror and inner strength of a woman, who must stand upright in the patriarchal structure of the time. A few words… A Gothic obsession fairy tale between a young woman and the scary vampire who falls in love with her insanely, sowing untold terror. Better Man (“Better Man”) Biography dramatic musical, Australian production of 2024, directed by Michael Gracie, with Jono Davis, Kate Malvany, Steve Pemberton, Alison Stidman, Damon Herriman, Robbie Williams, and Biographical dramatic musical – a pleasant surprise, for Robbie Williams’ turbulent life, one of the commercial singers of British pop music, who is not only addressed to his fans, but also has his own increased interest and can attract even those who do not care about this type of music. A film, about the rise, fall and rebirth of Robbie Williams, that escapes from the trite and makes a difference, deeply entering the character of the tortured artist, but also into the world of music industry and the severe pathogenies of English society. After seven years and also the musical “The Greatest Showman”, Michael Gracie, will stay away from conventional biographical dramas for famous artists, giving the form of a monkey to Williams, as a depiction of the singer’s demons, who have plagued him for years and led him to abuses and self-destruct, until he is reborn and triumphantly returned to the music scene. A kid, the school and neighborhood loser, with an absent abusive father, was watching along with his grandmother on the star’s television of the time and dreaming that he might become famous to prove to everyone he deserved. Robbie Williams, participated at the age of just 15 in the hearing organized by controversial manager Nigel Martin Smith and managed to enter the Take That band, which was about to become one of the most successful in Britain. Only insecurities, unprecedented pressure, the unknown world in which he landed led him to violent outbursts, abuses and self-destruct. Interesting approach of a famous artist by Gracie, who in collaboration with Williams – embodied by a CGI monkey, a clear reference to his famous sox “Me and my monkey” – did not hesitate to talk about all that most of the time film biography hides or perks at best. That is, the serious mental injuries, fears, insecurities and inability of the hero to manage the glory, the dark and ruthless world of the music industry and English stereotypes, derived from class segregation. Satisfying interpretations from the multi-faceted cast, from which one stands out that of Damon Herriman, the controversial manager, while the voice of the narrator Robbie Williams gives the tone to the entire film, in which in addition to the well-known hits he has re-recorded for the film, he also performs Forbidden Road that he wrote specifically about the film. Robbie Williams’ story from his childhood and his participation in the successful band Take That until his unrepeatable successes as a solo singer, while also addressing the challenges that glory brought to his life. Broken Hearts (“L’Amour Ouf”) Dramatic emotional thriller, French production of 2024, directed by Jill Lelus, with Adele Exarchopoulos, François Sivil, Mallory Wanek, Benua Pulvord. Vincent Lacoste Mrs.The effort of the well-known actor Jill Leluss to carry on screen, a novel by Neville Thompson, the intensely violent romance heartbreaking and with epic disposition crowned by failure, without excuses. At a cost of 35 million euros, which is the most expensive French production for Studio Canal and with the unexpected choice of being in the competition section of the Cannes Festival, it looked like the beast that came to make the corresponding American films go away. And yet this invincible beast, in the first pakuvitsa, is found to be torn down like a paper tower in slow motion – possibly to trouble us close to three hours, as long as the film’s duration. Gill Lelus, with several interesting interpretations, returns after six years to direct with an epic disposition and especially with the belief that he will impress us so much that we will forget the immortal love story we have seen on the big screen. The result was disheartening and mainly due to the unexpected – from where? – His megalomania and the abandonment of the script in his fate, in front of the restoration of the era, the unnecessary greats during secans, the exaggeration and eventually the one-dimensional characters, the unscared American spirit that becomes even more annoying accompanied by familiar French narrative chatter many times. The story, which spans three decades, wants Cloter, a rebellious young man, living in a degraded neighborhood of a small French city, falling in love with an orphaned schoolgirl, for her fearless character. A great love that will cease when Cloter’s illegal activity takes him to prison for a crime he never committed. After ten years, their lives have changed, feel betrayed by all and especially by themselves. He was trying to get out of the prison experience tunnel and she was married to a conventional marriage. Nevertheless, life will bring them back together, but nothing is the same as the past. With air techlor, ilustrasion production and half dose of musical, Lelus will tell a story of love and crime without measure, essentially dividing his story into two parts, that of youth and that of adult life, with the first having some interest, contrary to the second, which all pales and the director blackmails emotion beyond proper. In the center of the film four protagonists, for the different ages of heroes, with young Mallori Wanek and Malik Frika being sympathetic choices both stars, playing the great, Adele Exarchopoulos and François Sibil, lost in Lelos’ choices and arrogance. A few words… Rebel teenager Cloter falls in love with his classmate, Jackie, fascinated by her fearless spirit. As love blooms between the two of them, uncontrollable gang violence drags Cloter into dark paths and is in prison for a crime he did not commit. After many years apart, living diametrically different lives, they will come together again. The film is still shown: Sonic 3: The Film (“Sonic the Hedgehog 3”) Sonic the Skatehog and his company return to the large screen through the third sequel to their story, inspired by the game Sonic Adventure 2, but also secondarily Shadow the Hedgehog. Digital animation with live characters, of which Jim Carey clearly stands out in a double role of evil. The film, directed by Jeff Fowler, moves to the familiar rhythms of successful franchise, with a children’s adventure, which can be “scapped” and the parent next to his child. Carey plays with his well-known “rubbery” figures, which made him famous, while history rolls loose and fun. Sonic, Nuckles and Tailes meet again and work against Shadow, a new, powerful opponent with forces they have never faced before. Compiled in Greek with the voices of Panayiotis Apostolopoulos (Sonnik), Denis Makris (Tom), Christos Plainis (Dr. Robotnik), Giannis Tsoutsia (Wayd), Georgina Lysis (Mandy), Tasos Kostis ka.
