Her royal family is in big trouble, as her 27-year-old son Mete Marit, who had obtained before her marriage to Prince Haakon, was arrested for the rape of his companion. Marius Borg Hayby, the son of the princess, is accused of breaking Norway’s law concerning “sexual act with a person who is unconscious or in another state that makes it weak to react.” In fact, the police said it was a sexual act without the victim’s consent, since this was incapable of reacting. The 27-year-old had been arrested on August 4 in Oslo, following an incident in the apartment of a woman with whom he had an affair. At that time he had been prosecuted for using force and causing physical harm to his partner, while then the authorities had also spotted a knife pinned to the wall of her bedroom. In August he was arrested again for violating restrictive measures, as he was in the car with the victim. Marius Borg Hayby and his half-brothers – Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20 years old and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18 – grew up together from Mete Marit and Haakon, but chose not to have an official public role.
